OFFICINAL AND AROMATIC PLANTS
The meaning “aromatic plant” indicate plants that have dulcet smell substances (the aromas), rich of essential oil.
A lot of aromatic plants have medical property, usually they are used in the kitchen, in the herbalist’s shop, chimical industries, in the perfumery or they are used for deck out gardens or balconies.
One of the approved plants more diffused in the Euganei Hills is the lavender. With it we can prepared: infusions, products for the body’s cure and the lavender’s water.
Today in the Euganei Hills they cultivate again this plant, in the differet species of: Angustifolia, Crossbreed, Latifolia, Lanata, Dentata and Stoechas, as well as different species of aromatics plants.
Among the aromatics plants there are: basil, parsley, mint,salvia, rosemary, nepitella, thyme, laurel, faggot’s seeds, marjoram, myrtle, juniper, terragon and cumin, that are used for spice also the most simple plates.
POT-HERBS ,WILD PLANTS
In Spring we can find a rich palimpsest of comestibles herbs like: tamaro (on the family of hops), rampion, selvatic valerian, bruscandoli, carletti, traveler’s joy, selvatics asparagus . Normally these comestibles herbs are prepared in the oil, in the vapor or in excellent risotto.
MUSHROOMS
In the Euganei Hills there aren’t only tasty revue of mushrooms, but also own rarity; an example is the Entoloma Roseum that is characterized for the pink’s suggestions.
The Russula Violepeis was found on the euganeo territory in a unfavourable dryness conditions, and is present whether in violletto carminio form or in yellow carmino.
Others comestibles mushrooms that are in the Euganei Hills are: porcini mushrooms ,good gadroon, amanita vinata, white ovo, amanita vittadini and limacella guttata.
